Though salt water pearls are more popular

Before you start shopping for pearl jewelry, the foremost thing to do is to decide on the type of pearls you need on the jewelry. After finalizing on the type of pearl, then you can go for the various jewelries available with that particular pearl of your interest studded and select the ornaments you like.

Though salt water pearls are more popular, they do not come in various sizes or colors. Fresh water pearls have more colors to choose from and be wise while choosing a colored pearl as there are many dyed and imitation pearls available in the market. On the other hand, fresh water pearls are not much shiny as the sea pearls.

Next, check the quality of the pearl necklace jewelry  Consider the factors like, size of the jewelry and pearl gem, color of the pearl, shape, design and even total weight of the jewelry.

The third step is to finalize the type of metal you need the pearl to be embarked on. These days, there are many choices for pearl jewelry to choose from. Titanium and Gold are most popular but are also very expensive. So, keep your budget in mind. For me, there are even bracelets made up of leather with pearls of your choice studded on them. They look awesome for a groom.

When it comes to the major types of pearls available, they are broadly categorized to four main categories: Akoya Pearl, South Sea, Tahitian and Chinese freshwater pearl and the largest producers of these are Japan, Australia, France and China respectively.

The key secret behind the production of pearls is the living condition of the oysters. All the oysters do not grow in all climatic conditions. It is for this reason we do not have any single country or region leading the entire production of all varieties of pearls.

But with the technology advancements, China has already succeeded in producing South Sea Pearls in Hainan Province, and Akoya Pearls in Hepu, Guangxi. South Sea Pearls in Hainnan still needs further development, while Akoya Pearls in Hepu have successfully become a main source to Japan. Today, most of the Akoya pearls available in Japan under the 9mm category are imported from China.MORE:black tahitian pearl earring
